A
short history...
The
Royal Burgh of Stirling became Scotland's newest City in 2000
but it has been of historic importance for almost one thousand
years.
Whoever held Stirling, controlled Scotland, the Castle situated
on the rocky craggs giving a commanding all round view. The main
north south roads crossed the Forth at Stirling Bridge being the
lowest bridge on the Forth until Kincardine Bridge in 1936 and
the Forth Road Bridge in 1964.
The area steeped in history with William Wallace's victory at
Stirling Bridge in 1297, defeat at nearby Falkirk 1298 and Robert
the Bruce's victory at Bannockburn 1314.
